Annual Goal Setting and Preparation

September 16, 2026

Before you can set strong goals for next year, you need clarity on where things stand today and the best time to get that clarity is while this year is still fresh in your mind. With extension season bearing down, annual planning can feel a long way off. This session on September 16th at 12:00 pm CT is designed to hand you the framework now and get you reflecting while the year's still fresh, so when you sit down to plan after 10/15, you're starting from a real foundation, not a blank page and good intentions. We'll walk through how to take stock of this year (wins, gaps, and lessons learned), identify the handful of priorities that will actually move your firm forward, and build goals that are specific enough to act on and flexible enough to survive a busy year. Whether you're setting goals solo or bringing your team into the process, you'll leave with a simple framework you can use the moment you're ready.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Reflect on the past year using a structured lens — reviewing what worked, what didn't, and what's still unfinished — while the year is still fresh, so those insights are captured before extension season crowds them out.
  2. Identify 2–3 firm priorities for the coming year based on that reflection, rather than defaulting to the same goals as last year.
  3. Translate a broad priority into a goal that's specific enough to track and revisit throughout the year.

Who Should Attend:  Any firm leader ready to start planning for next year with a clear head.
