What Are Forums?

Forums inside Collective by DBA are dynamic, virtual gatherings designed specifically for leaders in the accounting industry. Our Forums are a powerful tool for personal and professional development, offering a collaborative environment where members can exchange ideas, solve problems, and connect with accounting industry peers.

Every month, a group of 10 members, hand-picked based on firm size, services, and leadership priorities, come together to harness the power of collective intelligence and experience. With the guidance of an industry-expert Forum facilitator, you’ll gain actionable insights and strategies to help you achieve your goals.

How It Works

Participating in a Forum is easy and impactful. Once a month, you’ll engage in a 2-hour virtual session from the comfort of your office, joining a group of committed leaders who share your passion for success. Common conversation in Forums

I need to hire for this position. Where are you having success finding good people? Answers will range from:
  • A local recruiter
  • An outsourcing agency
  • A piece of technology that now does that role
  • A neighborhood group like the gym or church.
I’m thinking about implementing this software, does anyone have experience? Answers will be:
  • Yes, the onboarding/training package was worth every penny.
  • Yes, it was awful…a team member almost quit. I can share what helped get us through.
  • No, I looked at that, but decided to go with this other one because it had this additional feature and better support.
  • Did you know the software you already have released an update that can do that?
I need to fire some clients. How do I decide which ones, when do I tell them, and what do I tell them?
  • Me too!
  • We let our team decide and sent them a letter after October 15.
  • We grade our clients, determine which ones need to go, identify a buyer and work out a deal, send a letter to the clients to let them know we will not longer serve them, but this new firm is qualified, trusted, and ready to serve them. I’m happy share the letter and show you how we grade our client list.
I’m thinking about making my long-time employee a partner. What do I need to be aware of?
  • I can share my partnership agreement.
  • My attorney was great. I can share the contact.
  • My employee didn’t want to “buy in” so we came up with a different compensation plan that I can share with you.
  • Business partners are similar to a spouse. Be sure to have a documented plan in the partnership agreement that spells out what happens in difficult times like death, divorce, disability, etc.
